Cape Town is one of the most picturesque cities in the world with a cultural diversity and historical background dating back beyond the first European settlers. A cable-car ride to the top of Table Mountain, the buzz of the night-life or the tranquility of sipping one of the many wines in the surrounding vineyards - you'll fall in love with Cape Town.

"It is the fairest cape and the most stately thing we saw in the whole circumference of the globe" - the words recorded in the log of Sir Francis Drake on sighting the Cape during his round-the-world voyage in the Golden Hind. |

The unsurpassed beauty has made Cape Town's breathtaking scenery
world-renowned. From all points within Cape Town one gets the view of the face
of Table Mountain while on the other side the cliffs give way
to stretches of brilliant white sand and endless rugged coastline. Driving
southwards, past the famous Constantia winelands, the scenery reveals lush valleys against towering mountain backdrops.
Standing on Cape Point, the southern end of the Peninsula where the backbone of the
mountains drops away into the sea, it is easy to understand why the famous
explorer, Sir Francis Drake, termed it "The Fairest Cape"
From the Tygerberg hills to the north-east of Cape Town, one can enjoy a panoramic view of Table Bay with mountains and sea, while from the top of Sir Lowry's Pass the sweeping views of the False Bay coast leaves one breathless. From the valley of Somerset West, the classic proportions of the Helderberg mountain forms an awesome backdrop to the many wine farms and golf courses. The drive from Gordon's Bay to Cape Hangklip is spectacular in its rugged, natural beauty of sheer rock face on your left and deep ocean on your right. Up the coast to the north the countryside changes into a rugged, semi-arid region which comes alive in a rainbow of colour with the floral beauty of the spring flowers. A visit to Cape Town would not be complete without a boat ride to Robben Island, the place steeped in a sordid history of incarceration spanning centuries. It is on this island that world renown Nelson Mandela and many others served their prison terms. Cape Town offers a multitude of leisure activities to suit everyone, from the ultra fit to the more sedate. Reaching the top of Table Mountain offers a choice: take the easy way up via the cableway, or, if you're feeling somewhat more energetic, one of the hundreds of pathways that lead to the summit. Exploring the abundance of the Cape's unique fauna and flora is a must, with superb walks and climbs to choose from in the numerous Nature Reserves, Forests, the Cape of Good Hope and Kalk Bay caves. Soak up the sun on secluded Clifton Beach and palm-fringed Camps Bay's white sands, or frolic in the warm waters of Muizenberg and Gordon's Bay. If it's adventure you want you can try kloofing, paragliding from Lion's Head as the sea breezes lift you high over the city center, or even abseiling off Table Mountain.
